A Day of Sharing and Giving

Posted on

IMG_3380Today we had a chance to share with our home congregation – what God is doing in Poland, Ukraine and Israel and how we get to be a part of it all.  We shared during the Sunday School hour, and were so encouraged by the words, hugs, prayers offered and giving towards the cost of our airfare.  We also had our Mission Store items on display for those who wanted to make a supporting purchase but don’t like to shop online.

IMG_3381Yesterday we only had enough funds to cover Ben’s plane ticket and about half of mine.  Today, I’m pleased to report that we have enough for about 2 1/2 tickets.  Thank you so much to all who have partnered with us to make this return to Poland possible. We’re getting close!  Our hope is to have the remaining funding ($1745) by the end of March, which is when we will cross into the time period that prices typically start to climb.  Please see our Financial Support page for information about giving, or shop our Mission Store if you would like to support this ministry.

Preparing for Journey #5

Posted on Updated on

What?  You’re going again?  Yep.  We kicked off our fund-raising plea at our home church January 4, and I’m finally getting it posted online.  Part of the delay has been my concentration on a new opportunity to serve and contribute to the ministry of PCM by becoming their webmaster.  Isn’t it cool how God gives us interests and abilities and then positions us to be able to use them for Him?  Anyway, here’s some info on our fifth journey back.

Here’s How You Can Help Send Us Back To Poland

1.  Pray

There is nothing more powerful than prayer to open hearts and windows of opportunity.  Pray for the Christian churches of Poland.  Pray for Holocaust survivors who need healing, hope and eyes to recognize the Messiah.  Pray for Ukrainian children whose lives can be changed by a week of camp.  Pray for the ministry of Ostroda Camp.  Pray to overcome any obstacle that could prevent us from serving.

2.  Give

It costs a little over $9000 for the four of us to serve in Poland for a month – significantly more than our income as educators can provide.  We are able to cover ground transportation, accommodations, food, and ministry expenses through careful year-round budgeting.  But that won’t do us any good if we can’t get there.  We need help to purchase our airfare.  We ask that you prayerfully consider how much you could give to send us.  A gift of any size will help us get there.  Here’s some math to help you see how you can contribute.

Four Seats on a Plane = (approximately)

  • A one-time gift of $20 from 253 people
  • 4 families, partnered families or Sunday School classes funding 1 ticket ($1265)
  • 50 one-time gifts of $100
  • 50 people giving $50 in February and $50 in March

You get the idea, any combination that totals close to $5060!

3.  Buy

Rachel is still making bracelets and other jewelry as a fund-raiser.  They make excellent gifts or an accessory for yourself that will remind you to pray.  Shop our Mission Store online or watch for details about the day the “store” will be open for purchases at Rockville Christian Church.
