Eating Dirt
This missionary stuff is tough work. Look at this poor child.
Ok, here’s the real story… Ethan has come out of his shell a bit and is interacting a lot with the Russian kids. Today he was riding piggy back on a sweet boy who has taken an interest in him. The boy ran down a hill and took a tumble. As one of the Russian counselors tried to describe it to me, Ethan became “Super Man”. He landed face down on the ground, receiving a mouth (and a nose) full of dirt, rocks and sand. He was a pretty tough guy about it. He did say, however, that it “hurt his brain.”
Ben’s birthday was today. I brought a box of his favorite baseball cards for him to open his eyes to this morning. Then we were greeted by a door full of post-it notes with sweet (and funny) messages, a big Pepsi and 3 “Prince Polo” bars (chocolate wafers – they are all the rage here). Thanks to the kindness of April allowing me to use her kitchen… again…. I was able to make one of Ben’s favorite cakes, which we had during our team debriefing after campfire. It wasn’t the usual celebration, but I hope he had a nice birthday away from home.
I have devotions in the morning. I need to do some praying and preparing on that. Thanks for all of your continued prayers and support!

Awwww, sweet Ethan. I would expect nothing less from a boy. 🙂 What an awesome thing….he’s coming out of his shell playing with Russian children. I think that’s cool. Ben’s birthday sounds wonderful, he was with the people he loves and doing the work he loves. (who wouldn’t love a pepsi????) Still praying for your family & Mala.
